1050 K Street Window Signage

SIGNAGE DESIGN, PROJECT MANAGEMENT

1050 K Street, NW, a blue gem in the heart of Washington, DC, stands out in a city full of great architecture and great office buildings. I was honored to be asked to design its window signage, but I should admit I felt a little bad about covering up the gorgeous new building. The Lenkin Company and The Tower Companies are champions of the development world, and this building is a shining example of that fact. It's Certified LEED™ Gold, now, and its green roof has a monumental view. Fortunately, this signage didn't need to stay up too long. Tesla Motors took the retail space behind the 11th Street signage, and now there are all-electric sports cars lining the floor.

Challenges

  • Cover over 2,000 square feet of glass with branded signage
  • Do not detract from the building's aesthetic
  • Tile art for easy section replacement, when needed

Results

  • Clean, bold imagery that informs without overwhelming
  • Effective branding that extends into the street
  • "LEED Gold Registered" tiles easily updated when "LEED Gold Certification" was achieved
